Links to the (very recent) past:
I loved this Paris Review piece, “My Ugly Bathroom” by Sarah Miller, that I’ve seen everywhere. It really gets at the peaceful complacency of living with something truly hideous - and also made me feel better about my apartment bathroom looking like a Victorian-era trap house.
Florida, an ongoing social experiment to test out all the dumbest ideas on the dumbest people, continues to shock and delight with feats of outstanding stupidity.
Buzzfeed is no longer adding that special ingredient, love, to all of its content. And by “love,” I mean human writers.
A woolly mammoth meatball! While not available for consumption yet, my very shallow understanding of genetics leads me to believe this food trend is a recipe for a “they didn’t stop to think if they should” moment, or just…cancer.
Nothing profound to say about Trump getting arrested except that I am bracing for the funniest political prisioner artwork of all time.
Tunes to start the week with:
Albumism, the music website I write for, has a nice feature up on some of the reviews and tributes I’ve penned over the years. My newest is a piece on The White Stripes’ Elephant, which still rips 20 years later. It’s such a good listen - just pure, uncut rock and roll.
We also got some new boygenius last Friday, but I’m holding off on listening until my tender heart can take it. Let me know if you already love it, or if it’s too depressing to love!
