Hi!
Thanks for opening this email / reading this post.
Just some links, doing what I can here:
Taking a break from his busy schedule of blowing up spaceships and cars, Elon Musk made an even bigger mess out of Twitter last week by removing all verifications (or “blue check marks”) on legacy accounts. Now, users must pay for their checkmark (unless you’re Auschwitz or a dead celebrity), and in doing so, will receive more prominence on the old timeline. What you’re left with is a social media platform functioning as a smelly basement party for TERFs, incels and guys whose dealers hate them, much like the rest of the internet. Guess I’ll go outside!
In more bad business news, this CEO admonished employees for “living in pity city,” this one wants you to kill puppies, and this one is under fire for communicating layoffs using the language of famous capitalism fan, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.. Thanks in advance to these three for inciting a class war.
People are trying to Wes Anderson-ify their lives to varying degree of success, and I say why film symmetrical architecture for TikTok when you could just have an existential crisis to honor his work?
A virtual space elevator! This is so fun!
Tunes to start the week with:
A new Julie Byrne single (lush, gorgeous), this video of Yaeji from Coachella (cured my depression), and an album from poet/musician Kara Jackson (devastating).
