Hi!
Thanks for opening this email / reading this post.
Summer link fun for the whole family:
Whales are back, baby! I remember lots of whale love from my childhood, so much so, that little contrarian Liz decided to hate them. But now I know they’re comrades and I may have to reconsider. There’s also this sea otter girlie who has similarly HAD IT with humans. Truly inspiring.
Feels like… marketing? Do we need an alibi from Kris?
A really smart, sharp and constructive book review of a new best-seller, examining the use of cultural identity as a cliché and crutch.
In-depth investigation on why men from Philly will embarass you (thank you Who! Weekly).
Something very stupid that has caught my attention is the obsession with / fear of being human trafficked. I’ve noticed the phenomenon is mostly white, adult women, the group of people the least likely to suffer this outcome. And while human trafficking is an American tradition and the basis for our ecomony since day one, the idea that it is a “real problem” for anyone remotely like me makes my brain boil. So instead of a poem, I’ve made something more useful - a handy flow chart to tell if you are a victim of this extremely specific crime, or simply a moron.
Tunes to start the week with:
A cool DJ Koze/Sophia Kennedy track - sounds like a 7AM cigarette in Berlin.
