Hi!
Thanks for opening this email / reading this post.
Fresh fall links to start the school year right:
A look into the “Libertarian paradise” (or, nightmare blunt rotation) being planned by some of the most jaw-droppingly evil people around.
A beautiful visual essay on the influence of Wong Kar Wai’s In the Mood for Love, one of my all-time favorite movies.
Mexico has decriminalized abortion on the federal level, similar to other Latin American countries passing laws to protect the right to choose. Meanwhile, here in the US, we’re making it so women have more rights when they’re dead.
And for more early aughts nostalgia, JP Brammer on the seminal text, Skinny Bitch, or, the book that launched a thousand eating disorders.
Tunes to start the week with:
A friend recommended Nation of Language a few weeks ago, and I’ve been loving their music! They really scratch the indie rock itch, in a way that’s been harder to find in recent years - think a Future Islands or Grizzly Bear vibe. Their last album is great and they have a new one coming out this Friday.
