The latest installment of "are men ok?"
Today's kids are being given the opportunity to have a drunk cop (whattup Officer Nolan) slur at them for 60 minutes every few weeks, to help them resist freebasing crack or eating a weed gummy bear - just like we did!
Never taking the saxophone for granted again.
This article about a Web3 entreprenuer/scammer "hype house" is scarier than anything A24 could put in the universe.
Substack suggestions! I like to play Anna Wintour and pretend I am currating a very exclusive magazine with all of my favroite fashion and pop culture writers over on Substack. Some of my faves come from Hunter Harris (funny celeb gossip writing), Laurel Pantin (a crazy chic LA mom), Hillary Kerr (legendary beauty editor) and Haley Nahman (former ManRepeller writer, current Brooklyn cool chick).

Tunes to start the week with:
In my TikTok consumption, I've come across a handful of "guys with a mic approaching strangers" asking them their favorite song. The people who are able to answer instantly are always the best. The worst is watching someone struggle to find something cool/unique/sexy or whatever they believe is their "brand." And since I am the main character, this got me thinking about my answer for when I am inevitably interviewed.
First, we need to differentiate between favorite song and best song. I've defined "favorite song" as the song that I wish I could see played live, I wish I was in the room when it was being recorded, and I wish everyone else could hear the same way I do. "Best" is a perfect achievement, benefitting all of us - we're talking Beethoven's Sixth or The Beatles' "Blackbird." Even using my own parameters though, I'm still stuck between two favorites (the duality of man!!!), tonally very different, but special to me just the same. I guess it just depends on the day I'm having, when a 21-year-old man with a perm asks what we're all thinking. And it's either going to be "Everyday People" by Sly and the Family Stone or "Farewell Transmission" by Songs: Ohia.
So, in the spirit of being my own guy with a mic, what are your favorite songs?
xx
