happy birthday to me and only me
Hi!
Thanks for opening this email.

Friday was my birthday, and since this country is extremely corny, I've decided to continue celebrating myself instead of some dusty, Christofacist clown show. So, in the spirit of self-centeredness, I'm making recommendations baby!
Baz Luhrmann's Elvis - I am generally opposed to movies longer than 90 minutes, but somehow I found this nearly three-hour biopic RIVETING. Tom Hanks is almost unwatchable (someone referred to his performance as Fat Bastard and Goldmember at the same time), but everything else is dazzling, dizzying and totally over-the-top.
Lentils that won't kill you - If you have also been going down the Daily Harvest rabbit hole, you've probably lost your trust in lentils. Fear not! I eat these little packs on the daily, and I am surviving/thriving with a high fiber diet. Delicious and convenient.
Love Island - If you need to get in touch with your inner dumb person, just sit down to a few hundred hours of the shallowest people in the UK, in confinement, on Mallorca. The plot lines are recapped ad nauseam and you WILL pick up a Liverpudlian accent. The "Islanders" have legitimately hilarious and charming moments, and are much warmer and more real than any Bachelor contestant could dream of being.
Lillet Blanc - Since turning into an actual wine snob (embarrassing), cocktails really kick the shit out of me. Luckily, we're all loving "spritzes," and Lillet is currently my numero uno aperitif. The bottle is pretty, it costs about as much as Aperol or Campari, but is much lighter, fresher and more floral. Mix with seltzer and ice, and suddenly, you are the most relaxed woman on the French Riviera. It also makes for a chic host gift.
These shorts - Thick thigh tested and approved. The only running shorts I have ever worn that I could feasibly run in. They don't "ride up," which many people in the reviews refer to as "thigh-gobbling," my new least favorite combo of words.
Kirby and the Forgotten Land - I am a secret gamer (very brave to out myself here) and I'm loving the newest Kirby game for Nintendo Switch. It fills the Mario-shaped void in my life, playing a lot like a cross between Super Mario Odyssey and 3D World.
A giant water bottle - My emotional support water bottle. The "inspirational" quotes on the side are deeply cringe, but that doesn't detract from how effective carrying this bad boy room to room is in helping me stay hydrated (a key component in the fight against crankiness).
Enjoy!
xx
