microdosing the news
just enough for a slightly coherent world-view
Hi!
Thanks for opening this email / reading this post.
“Leftist infighting” but it’s just my brain scan.
Best Women’s Day Gift is this glossy spread of these stupid boys. Their complete lack of self-awareness and inability to feel shame bodes really well for the future.
If you think life sounds hard in Iran or Lebanon right now, try being on assignment and going without a music streaming service for a week. I’m assuming Spotify paid handsomely for this piece and will no longer feel guilty about closing The Guardian’s donation tab so hastily.
A vibes-based government seems fine.
The only way I would be capable of learning the rules to a game.
This is a sad read, but also deeply honest! I am around cool people 98% of the time, so I rarely have someone question my desire to not get pregnant and raise a kid through adulthood. Those people exist though; the ones who think I won’t ever understand love* or that I’m missing out on my one sole purpose. And it can be hard to ignore them, because those are some intense fucking accusations! But reading rarely-shared stories like these helps me feel a little more validated in trusting myself to make the right choices for ME.
*as a poet, I know I’m one of the only people gifted enough to understand the vast, unwieldy nature of love, so keep it moving
Tunes to start the week with:
Two artists I’ve liked before, but only one delivering in 2026. The new Mitski is more restrained, but still very strong and funny, full of the haunting lyrics and harsh guitars we love her for. Bury Me at Makeout Creek is one of my all-timers, and this isn’t that, but I’ll take it. New Harry Styles on the other hand…maybe I just liked him more when he was Japanese, but the new stuff feels like a flat impersonation of LCD Soundsystem, without the ennui or poor lifestyle choices. I’m never beating the “hates Brits” allegations, but here we are.
xx

I kept yelling "WHERE IS THE DISCO" at Harry, who I'd never really listened to but a coworker was wearing disco ball earrings to celebrate the day so I thought I'd give it a try.
