Hi!
Thanks for opening this email / reading this post.
Walking around blasting these links at full volume, no headphones:
Someone finally found a good use for AI, and that is to make Toad sing.
A devastating essay about passing down insecurities to children and the deeply fucked up relationship so many women have with their bodies.
A brilliant Rebecca Traister read on the current public obsession with heterosexual marriage, from liberal windbags to violent facists (she has some shady reads of Ross Douthat and David Brooks, which itself should be enough for you to click the link).
Speaking of insulting David Brooks, my blueprint, Joyce Carol Oates, has been roasting the beleagured public intellectual ever since he was loudly confused by airport dining and this is why the internet is fun sometimes.
Salesforce is embracing “Fuck Boy Fall” by asking employees laid off months ago to come back to work for them. They’ve been going to therapy, read bell hooks, and promise this time it will be different <3
Fat Bear Week is coming up, so take the time to get to know these chunky babes and pick your winner.
Tunes to start the week with:
Stealing this from Matthew Schnipper’s Deep Voices: Nabihah Iqbal’s album, DREAMER, “moves between Iqbal’s raw house productions and her shoegaze songwriting. Some songs have more of one than the other; a song like ‘Sky River’ is a high-BPM club-ready track. But ‘Sunflower’ is a perfect blend of the two.” I think it sounds like one of the older Tirzah albums. Good stuff!
Also, if you’re ever looking for playlists with RANGE, you’ve got to subscribe to Deep Voices. Schnipper has been writing about music for ages and has the taste to show it.
xx
