our motocross to bear
find me in the octagon with barron
Hi!
Thanks for opening this email / reading this post.
I’m back from a petites vacances with a new lease on life and fortified alcohol tolerance! I wonder if anything stupid is happening in America…
Eric Trump was just trying to make a few extra bucks off the game, but did not anticipate a moment of moral integrity from a UFC fighter. Honest mistake!
Not a link, but something to call out that is making me feel insane: this bullshit carnival at the White House is deserving of ire (maybe a little less than say, our international death camps, but we can hate a lot at once), but the liberal instinct to call it “white trash” and associate it with poor people is wrong, dumb, and a key component of the cynical Republican rebrand into the “populist” party. These are the richest Americans to ever live! This spectacle is the direct result of oligarchy, Bezos, Zuckerberg and the like, lining their already-fat pockets and throwing themselves a party (or what they imagine a party to be, because they have never been organically invited to a non-corporate event in their entire shitty existence). Do not fall for the trap! Poor people have not made America this way and never will and don’t let anyone trick you into thinking what you’re seeing is anything other than a violent war on the poor, no matter how tacky it looks. Even if your most disgusting Republican uncle is totally getting off on guys grappling on the White House lawn, he does not have any power; he just sucks. Whether they’re in a gilded ballroom or UFC octagon, there is one class of people fleecing Americans and taking a dump on our dinner plates and until we get real fucking French about it (I’m inspired), I am rejecting all criticisms of anyone worth less than a billion dollars and keeping my metaphorical target trained directly on the heads of the guys who got us here.
We have hopefully reached peak “lack of nuance” with the cancellation of Israeli dissident filmmaker, Navad Lapid. I think this is inline with my general sentiment that if you have more heat for Israel than whatever imperialist nightmare country you are from (cough USA cough), you might be justifying your own real deal anti-Semitism.
A great poem from a former classmate of mine that really knocked my socks off.
And little bit of good news <3
Tunes to start the week with:
It’s the 30th anniversary of the first Tibetan Freedom Concert, the event I would most like to use a time machine to attend. Why not have some fun looking at these setlists and wallow in the intense cultural envy along with me!
If you’re craving something a little more contemporary, Kim Petras and Kurt Vile both have new records out repping both sides of the summer jams spectrum.
xx

Lizzzzz what the freakin heck! I was like ooh I’ll click through and read this former classmate’s poem… and then it was mine. Thanks ❤️ I really love your Substack dude. I’ve been bangin that SOPHIE x Big Freedia track fr fr
