Hi!
Thanks for opening this email.

Longreads for a day off. Go on, enrich yourself!
Today I learned that "military e-girl psyop" is a thing.
And now I think everything is psyop? Like Velma? Is this show so bad that it has to be on purpose?
A "spongier" future to combat climate change.
An analysis of the proliferation of "eat the rich" media (White Lotus, Triangle of Sadness, etc.) and its toothless activism.
And speaking of ineffective, performative art - a billionaire bought an enormous, abstract statue, put it across the street from a Four Seasons and Hermes, and it's supposed to be about Dr. Martin Luther King, somehow? One of my favorite TikTokers, Seema, explains the "art" aspects here, but I am...not convinced.

Tunes to start the week with:
I noticed the mysterious R&B collective Sault charting on lots of year-end lists and had to see what they're about. Beyond this article and a Wikipedia entry, I'm still not sure, but I can say the albums are all really beautiful and special. There is a care-free, communal vibe, like talented friends jamming and accidentally creating five solid, distinct records (check out the insane Karen Carpenter-style drumming on Today & Tomorrow). Luckily, the albums seem to be available on streaming services for consumption beyond the intended expiration date. Enjoy!
