she's startin'
Hi!
Thanks for opening this email / reading this post.
me after a bunch of PhD-types signed up for this Substack last week
New links to surprise and delight:
There is a right-wing conspiracy theory that John Fetterman is being hidden from public and the John Fetterman being photographed is a body double, to which I say, these conspiracy theorists clearly never tried dating in Boston if they think you can find more than one guy over 6’5”!
In other deep-fake related news, this picture of the pope is not real, so I’ve abandoned my hasty conversion to Catholicism.
In things that scare me if I think about them for too long, scientists have discovered a giant mountain in the Pacific ocean, which is great news for mysterious creatures lurking in unexplored depths and bad news for my imagination.
While this newsletter is not techincally a Ben Affleck fan page, I do my very best to spread his good word, and recently he had some very cool things to say about art and workers’ rights and his celebrity Wordle crew.
Things I love about Succession; insults, watching rich people suffer, and the way they tell a story through clothing. Amy Odell (brilliant fashion writer and Anna Wintour biographer) wrote a recap of the fits on the newest episode and it is a (spoiler-heavy) delight.
Tunes to start the week with:
JPEGMAFIA and Danny Brown put out a new album together called SCARING THE HOES, and it’s super weird and loud, something I’d categorize as “Dada chaos rap.”
For something a little…easier, I’ve been enjoying this long playlist of lush techno tracks from Hrioshi Watanabe, aka Kaito. So nice when you don’t want to think too hard about what to listen to, but gotta find a vibe.
