sweater weather
Hi!
Thanks for opening this email.

introducing myself to new friends
I read this stuff, so now you have to!
Rich people being punished for their wacky schemes is the strain of schadenfreude that gets me the highest. Here's to the SEC staying in Kim K and everyone else's business much more.
In the same vein, we might get a chance to see Mark Zuckerberg have the crap kicked out of him.
Two versions of this TikTok trend where people rap a story to "Superfreak." This one made me cry laughing and this one is just good gossip.
An explainer on "The Try Guys," who they are, and why it's funny one of them is an adulterer.

Tunes to start the week with:
Another newsletter I subscribe to (Maybe, Baby) asked readers for their favorite fall albums. So, I'm including a few reccomendations below, both crowd-sourced from cute millennial women and handpicked by me.
At the top, I have The National's Boxer. To be fair, you could put any album from them on this list and it would make perfect sense. Something about punk percussions with dreamy arrangements and Matt Berninger's gravely, sad dad vocals screams, "bundle up" to me.
In that same vein, Taylor Swift's folklore and evermore are the musical equivalent of a crunchy red leaf. And if you are a Swiftie, Julia Jacklin is her indie Australian sister. Her newest album, PRE PLEASURE, is destined for lots of autumn (and year-round) love from me.
Carrie & Lowell from Sufjan Stevens is a perfect album, and its hushed, lilting tones are a moody match for shorter days. Lyrically, it's soul-crushing at times (trigger warning: dead parents), so perfect for when the seasonal affective disorder catches up.
If that sounds a little bleak for you (congrats on the stable mental health), Ali from Vieux Farka Touré and Khruangbin is quite groovy, but still the exact vibe for cuddling up.
Yankee Hotel Foxtrot is a first ballot, Hall of Fame fall album (and my favorite Wilco release) and definitely a record worth revisiting. Same for Yo La Tengo's I Can Hear the Heart Beating as One. They knew what they were doing with "Autumn Sweater."
Am I missing anything obvious? Do you have any reccs? LMK!!
