the Renata Adler of sending Monday newsletters
full transparency: i needed to google who that was, but just to jog my memory, i swear!
Hi!
Thanks for opening this email / reading this post.
A sprinkling of linklings:
I saw this headline linked on Solitary Daughter and have not stopped laughing. Dear French people, please never change.
The worst fomo I have ever felt is when my husband and sister had lunch without me, and sat next to a first date where both people were wearing Google Glasses. Anyway, there is a new AI pin that doesn’t seem to work, or like, do anything at all.
I just love him.
This woman, a young science “genius” who is taking massive, Peter Thiel-backed investments for her improbable eugenics project, thinks it’s “mean” for you to compare her to Elizabeth Holmes. Ladies, is it misogyny to clock a tired scam?
There is discourse happening in the literary criticism sphere (think underfed brunettes in Brooklyn writing burns like, “the Renata Adler of looking at your phone too much”) but my only take away is how staggeringly low the book sales are of the work in question.
Tunes to start the week with:
I love Mount Kimbie because I never know what they’ll come up with next. Their new record is shoegazey, post-punk vibes, a serious departure from their techno tracks that got me in the door ten years ago. Good stuff!
Recently, I’ve been listening to this kind of insane playlist that’s mostly diss tracks, progressive house and Charli XCX, aka gay workout music. Good for lifting heavy machinery and boozy brunch.
xx
