this is why we need a ballroom
and other ways to combat gun violence
Hi!
Thanks for opening this email / reading this post.

Spring makes me feel fucking crazy, y’all.
Kicking things off with a heart-warming animal story.
Top-level Google scientist admits he’s probably not God in breakthrough findings.
Incredible Jimmy Fallon hate from Current Affairs. It sure does feel like culture is dying and I’m perfectly happy to accuse this jester of its murder.
The Devil Wears Prada is one of those movies I am happy to watch on a loop, with commercials, volume turned down, for eternity. It is a balm for my joy-starved brain, a fashion girl living in a time without magazines or Elsa Klensch. But the promotions for the upcoming sequel have left me feeling a lil cynical! This article on the bombastic marketing campaign and the inherent corniness of a Target collab that would make Miranda Priestly wretch sums up my skepticism well. I’m still going to see it.
Tunes to start the week with:
A new Kehlani album! I love the first single, “Folded,” that’s been out for a minute (it’s such a good break-up song it makes me jealous of those feeling scorned rn). There’s even a track featuring T-Pain and Lil Jon for some premium nostalgia. It’s a nice hit of sexy R&B as we start to go outside again.
A poem to start the week with:
nature poem the sky flat and pulled tight around our ears the stream drunk from winter beneath a cotton ball sun and mourning doves coo ah coo coo preaching patience it’s not fertile yet so don’t try to grow from dust instead scatter waiting for the ground to become unctuous and fresh to incubate again a day or two by the ocean to remember how stupid everything else is knocked back by a saline breeze sun-bleached bones of a whale creeping towards the water from where it was born
xx
