Hi!
Thanks for opening this email / reading this post.
Happy Black History Month, shout out to Black people for inventing culture, everyone owes you BIG TIME! Links today are either fun or depressing, click to find out.
Meet the boy engineers who are working with Apartheid Clyde (ty Azaelia Banks) to completely take over the federal infrastructure and treasury. You know that room smells CRAZY.
Speaking of infrastructure, if you want drivable roads, you’re going to need to get pregnant, carry the fetus for nine months, and then after a dangerous childbirth, be solely responsible for a human being until you die. Sorry, that’s democracy!!!
A longread on the history of Netflix and why everything they make looks like shit.
I really miss the fun editorials that used to be in glossy fashion magazines, where a glamorous actress or singer goes on a little adventure and we get to watch them be fabulous. This SSENSE feature on Japanese Breakfast’s Michelle Zauner exploring Seoul has a similar effect.
People hate the bad French musical “Emilia Pérez” for a myriad of reasons, but this response from a young Mexican filmmaker might make up for the source material.
A more respectable piece of French art? This Timothée Chalamet Instagram post. From the NYCB baseball cap to the teeny tiny Chanel crossbody, he makes me hopeful for the youth.
Tunes to start the week with:
Two good new albums - MIKE’s Showbiz! has lots of great jazz and soul samples lying under an introspective and inventive flow. And FKA Twigs has a new release, Eusexua. It’s much more of a dance album than her past titles. “Drums of Death” and “Perfect Stranger” are real bangers. She may have been sent from the future.
