I loved what you wrote, specifically about the "girlhood" phenomenon. I've just been trying to work out the whole "everyone is an NPC" attitude I've seen spring up - like there isn't a regard for other humans, but your own experiences are both unique AND universal. I'm thinking stuff like suburban moms being "sex trafficked" in a Target parking lot or a 22 year-old explaining "red flags" in a partner. I like you pointing to post-feminism because I was at the tail end of the third wave and was very self-conscious about doing the right thing according to the women before me/ not disappointing them (tbh this just feels like some Hilary Clinton-ass bullying now) and the younger gen doesn't appear to be phased by that, but they also don't give ANYONE credit for anything. Basically, I just hope Gen Z becomes a little more curious and critical around their own thoughts, and if that's already happening, I just wish I saw more of it?
Totally! I'm not entirely convinced yet that we're not in a constant loop of hyper criticizing younger generations through the lens of our own perceived shortcomings, but only time will tell. I have to hope it bends towards overall enlightenment, but these days that seems ... less possible? Either way, I hope to read more thoughts from you on this!
ah thank you so much for sharing—would also love to hear your own thoughts about solipsism and myopia 👀

I liked reading you talk about PItchfork more than reading Pitchfork.
